Description

The TR6 was introduced in 1968 as a replacement for the TR5 and TR250. Benefiting from Triumph’s robust and torquey 2.5-liter inline six-cylinder engine, along with classic styling, the TR6 was a huge success for Triumph, especially in the US. Of the 91,850 examples built through 1976, only 8,370 were sold in the UK.

This 1972 TR6, according to the consignor, spent its early years in Florida, where it had three owners and underwent restoration work in the 1980s. It was later part of a collection in North Carolina. In 2009, the consignor purchased the Triumph from Connors Motorcar Company in Pennsylvania, after a thorough search for the right car. The TR6 has since seen exceptional care from British car specialists, with invoices on file showing consistent use and maintenance including a rebuild of the gearbox and overdrive in 2009. Extensive sorting through 2019 is carefully chronicled in a log that accompanies the car.

Showing only minor cosmetic imperfections and some patching to the soft top, which the consignor believes may be original to the car, this TR6 is otherwise an exceedingly sound and proper example. It will surely bring enjoyment to its next steward as it has for over a decade in its current loving home.
