Description
"Produced between 1961 and 1967, the TR4 combined a new, modern and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti with the basic chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop. The 2138cc engine of the late-production TR3A continued while the 1991cc engine was also made available to buyers who wanted to participate in two-litre racing. When equipped with the optional overdrive, the TR4 was good for a top speed of almost 110mph.Today, the four-cylinder TR's are among the easiest of post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain being supported by a multitude of component suppliers and other specialists.
This delightfully handsome TR4 was originally sent to the U.S. and was repatriated to the UK in 1990 by the vendor. The car was partially restored in the 90’s and converted to right hand drive. In 2018 it was decided to fully restore this Triumph. No stone was left unturned and the car was completely nut and bolted, including a full engine rebuild. A number of upgrades were also fitted at the time, these include the fitting of a Kenlow fan, servo assisted brakes, an alternator together with a high-torque starter motor, electronic ignition and a spin-off oil filter. Mazda MX5 seats have been fitted although the original seats are available, it should be pointed out these have not been restored. Clearly the quality of work carried out has been to a high standard; the shut lines are very good and the paint finish excellent. Supplied with a box of spares and an owner’s manual, together with a V5C registration document, this is a perfectly useable example of a great British classic.
