Description
"Although the Triumph Dolomite proved to be refined and rapid, competitors such as the BMW 2002 had a performance advantage which was costing Triumph dearly, both in terms of sales and prestige. To remedy this, Triumph unveiled the Dolomite Sprint in June 1973. A team of engineers led by Spen King developed a 16-valve cylinder head with all the valves being actuated using a single camshaft rather than the more conventional DOHC arrangement. The capacity was also increased to 1998cc and combined with bigger carburettors the output was upped to 127bhp. This represented a significant power increase over the smaller 1850cc variant, targeting 135bhp.
First registered on 12th March 1980 this Dolomite Sprint presents well in the head turning colour of Inca Yellow which is complemented with a dark grey interior. The car appears to be sensibly estimated given the recent popularity of similar models. The Sprints enthusiast owner tells us that this Triumph runs well and is a joy to drive. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and various bills and receipts this MoT exempt Dolomite could prove to be a fun investment and should be given serious consideration.
