What a lovely idea. Creating a retro-styled sports car using modern mechanicals that can be used and enjoyed as a daily driver whilst retaining the spirit of the classic MG T-series that was its inspiration. Offering the driver the best of both worlds, the original TD 2000 concept began 30 years ago here in Australia but proved financially unsuccessful for the Marshall Motor Company, despite support from Nissan. The tooling subsequently changed hands on a number of occasions before being acquired in 1998 by TD Cars Sdn. Bhd., a 70% Malaysian-owned operation with 30% Australian partners which included the intellectual properties, trademarks and all rights associated with production of the TD 2000 roadster.
