"Lago Record" : the impressive inscription on a plaque on the boot ! It refers to the presence of the largest engine available at Talbot: the 4.5-litre six-cylinder engine developed by Antony Lago for competition use. Its overhead valves created a hemispheric combustion chamber that generated 170 bhp and gave a top speed of 170 km/h, very impressive for the period. Antony Lago stayed faithful to the Wilson pre-selector gearbox.
This car is presented in what is likely to be its original plum colour. The elegant factory body is reasonably well conserved and the whole is almost complete, with headlights, bumpers and windows. Inside, it appears to retain its original, relatively well preserved leather upholstery, and the door linings are still under covers. The dashboard, with its attractive sporty appearance, is complete apart from the clock and one other instrument. The wire wheels are fitted with whitewall tyres and an old registration number is still visible: 270 BU 24. The Talbot T26 is one of the most interesting French cars from the immediate post-war period. With its stunning fastback styling and in this rare condition, this example is particularly so.
