John Surtees formed his team in 1966 for the newly-formed CanAm series and had great success in winning the championship as an owner/driver in its first year. However, during the 1970s Surtees designed, built and raced, with typical dedication and determination, his own Team Surtees Formula One, Formula Two and Formula 5000 cars. Building on his reputation in Formula one team management and design, Surtees was able to attract clients and drivers alike in not just Formula One, but in Formula Two and Formula 5000.
