In 1956, the very stylish Raymond Loewy Studebaker Coupes evolved into the Hawk series consisting of the Flight Hawk, Power Hawk, Sky Hawk, and Golden Hawk. Although the Golden Hawk was the most powerful, the big Packard engine made it perilously nose-heavy and the next-in-line Sky Hawk was much lighter and handled much better. A pillarless two-door hardtop, the Studebaker Sky Hawk was in production for one year only, 1956.
The Sky Hawk had simpler detailing than the Golden Hawk in that it featured less chrome trim and also lacked the Golden Hawk's fins. It benefited from a simpler interior and they were powered by the President's 289cubic inch V8 with an imposing 210bhp as standard.
This example, finished in black with a grey interior, is an extremely rare Sky Hawk Continental pillarless coupe,
