Description

Studebaker introduced an entirely new line of trucks in January 1941, designated the M-Series. Offered in a line comprising four models with load capacities ranging from half-ton through two-ton cargo ratings, the M-Series found immediate buyer acceptance and continued as Studebaker’s mainstay truck design through 1948.

For 1941, 4,685 M5 pickups were produced; however, few survive today and fewer still are as nicely presented as this example. A refreshing find for marque enthusiasts and collectors, it features an attractive livery, a correct-appearing interior, and displays a wartime “T” mileage ration sticker and a “Keep ‘em Flying” decal depicting an Army Air Corps Pursuit plane.

Desirable features and accessories include a floor-shifted four -speed manual gearbox plus a chrome front bumper, chrome grille guard, twin Amber fog lamps, chrome Studebaker-scripted hubcaps, cargo rails, a chrome exhaust deflector, spare tire, and a Goodrich accessory heater. A Conoco oil-change sticker from Mishicot, Wisconsin on the driver’s door edge records the truck showing 72,028 miles in July 1966, and just over 3,200 additional miles have been accrued in the interim 57 years, according to the odometer at the time of cataloguing.

This extremely handsome truck is at the height of its desirability by collectors, and it deserves close inspection and special consideration.
