Description
We are pleased to offer for sale this superb example of a first-generation Saab 99 Coupé. The vehicle is presented in a very classic Savanna Beige color combination, with an interior fitted with period-correct custom seat covers protecting its original seats, which remain in good condition.
The Saab 99 represents a turning point for the brand and lays the foundations of what Saab is known for today. Its design marked a complete departure from earlier models, introducing the signature “clamshell” hood and the distinctive “hockey stick” C-pillar. The car was designed by Sixten Sason, Saab’s iconic designer.
The Saab 99 is powered by a 4-cylinder engine derived from the Triumph Dolomite. The example presented here features a 1.85L engine and a Zenith-Stromberg 175CD-2S carburetor, in a version further developed by Swedish engineers.
This vehicle, of Belgian origin and imported by Ets. Brondeel, has remained within the same family throughout its life. The original owner sold it to his grandson in 2003, who subsequently registered it as a classic vehicle.
It remains in original, unrestored condition. The grandson of the first owner only commissioned a full repaint at the time of acquisition. The 5-digit odometer shows 23,700 km; however, the actual mileage should be considered as 123,700 km.
The vehicle has recently undergone a mechanical service, including a complete overhaul of the braking system.
