Coming out of the Second World War, Saab AB needed to fill their now dormant aircraft manufacturing facility and decided to start building cars. The first model would roll off the production line in 1949, with the first station wagon, the 95, following in 1959. Saab developed a dedicated following for their well-built front-wheel drive cars, making them successful rally cars. Today Saab is remembered as an innovative company with aircraft-inspired design separating them from more traditional companies.

This Saab 95 would begin its life in sunny California. Being a 1967 model, it would be one of the first to receive the peppy new Ford V4 engine producing 73 hp compared to the previous 38 hp 841 cc three-cylinder two-stroke. Paired with a four-speed manual, this car is capable of touring the countryside or winning grueling rally stages. Following years of enjoyable motoring throughout California, this car was placed into dry storage, where it would remain for over 20 years.

The next owner would remove the Saab from storage, bringing it to the east coast. Following its trip east, a complete restoration was undertaken to make this 95 among one of the finest finished examples in the country. The engine and transmission were both completely overhauled to factory specifications. The body was stripped of faded original paint and repainted in an attractive maroon color from the Mercedes color palette, a job made easier by the lack of rust needing to be removed. The interior was refinished in palomino Mercedes MB-Tex with a complimentary rattan pattern in the cargo area. A notable upgrade of this car are the 'soccer ball' wheels from a Sonnet finished with matching body color inserts.

Today this stunning Saab 95 shows only 741 miles on the odometer following the completion of the restoration and has been scrupulously attended to by Pittsburgh's Casa Bella Macchina collection, making this truly one of the finest examples available and would be a welcome addition for any collector looking to purchase a fun and seldom-seen vehicle.
