A very rare and capable model with a celebrated history, the ideal Mini for rally fun!

The original 1.3L engine develops 63 DIN horsepower, but following a preparation, one can imagine that it develops much more than that but has never been officially measured.

Car located in France, registered in England.

Chassis no. SAXXNNAYNBD094130.

- Rare Group A version, factory preparation.
- Fully restored, beautiful presentation.
- The ultimate Mini.

With its ingenious design, the Mini acquired its reputation by winning the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally.
In 1991, Rover decided to revive this legendary car and relaunched the Mini Cooper 1275cc version.
The legend is truly timeless!

The car we present was prepared by Rover to Group A specifications in the mid-1990s to compete in the 1994 Monte Carlo Rally.
For the occasion, Rover France entrusted it to a famous crew, Jean-Claude Andruet and "Biche", whose incredible record of achievement includes a victory in the 1973 Monte Carlo Rally at the wheel of an Alpine berlinetta.

After a start in Reims, they were unfortunately forced to retire due to tyre problems, but the Mini Cooper was able to showcase its capabilities.
The Group A preparation features a 1275cc fuel-injected engine with a special camshaft and larger valves.

The gearbox is a straight-cut racing version, the suspension is adjustable, and a special fuel tank is fitted in the rear boot. Equipped with a roll cage, the cabin was completely modified and fitted for rallying, with bucket seats, adapted instrumentation and a tripmaster in front of the co-pilot. The front grille is topped by a row of four headlamps.

After the rally, Jean-Claude Andruet kept the car for some time before parting with it.
In 2009, it underwent a full restoration in the hands of a rally enthusiast in England.
The bodywork was stripped and some body parts were replaced.

Photos and invoices show the work done.
The car then passed into the hands of a new owner, who used it in rally openings where it proved to be competitive and fun to drive.
In 2012, it was bought by Ferrari to be sold to an enthusiast, but who never used it.

Well prepared, with an unusual history, this car represents the quintessence of what made Mini a rally legend. This Classic Car is for sale on Catawiki. To have more information or to place a bid click on the "BID NOW" button.
