Description

"Before David Plastow left his senior position at Rolls-Royce following the take-over of Vickers plc, he had been responsible for a series of models, amongst which was the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit. It was unveiled in October 1980 as a replacement for the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The coachwork of the Silver Spirit had been designed at the in-house styling centre by Fritz Feller and gave the impression of being stretched in comparison with the bodies of the previous generation. Direct comparison, however, showed only small differences. The new models had slightly grown in length and width; height had been cut a little, although the styling was more modern than that of its predecessor. The interior was dominated by the expected combination of fine wood and sumptuous leather and it was also the first Rolls-Royce to be fitted with a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy. The long-wheelbase version was called the Silver Spur, four inches longer than the Spirit.
Originally registered on 29th August 1986 and sold by Jack Barclay ltd, London this splendid example of the Silver Spur is presented in deep Royal Blue with sumptuous Champagne leather trim. Most of its life it was owned by the chairman of United Biscuits and we believe this was his personal car before being registered to his wife. Having covered a mere 34,800 miles, this is a collectable example having been well cared for and is described as a very original untouched car. MoT test certificates show that the car did the majority of its mileage prior to 2006 at which point the car has been MoT’d and serviced but predominantly parked inside a garage. The woodwork inside the cabin is in splendid order and but for usual wear to the drivers bolster, the trim is similarly excellent with the car having been predominantly chauffeur driven. Within the history file is the original book pack, invoices dating back to the purchase in 1988 by Mr. Willet and servicing bills by R.J. Funnel of Tunbridge Wells. A truly original example with incredibly low mileage, this is a very collectable example which we believe spent the majority of its life (over 30 years) being chauffeur driven.
