Description

"The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 through to 1980 and was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches narrower and seven inches shorter than its predecessor, the Silver Cloud, but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging. Aside from a more modern appearance and construction, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes replacing drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous models. It featured a 189bhp 6.75 litre V8 engine from 1970 onwards, mated to a Turbo Hydromantic 400 transmission supplied by General Motors. The superb ride quality achieved in the Shadow was thanks to the innovative high-pressure hydraulic system with dual circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension.
Boasting 15 service stamps in its original service book, the wonderful Silver Shadow II offered here was first registered on 16th February 1979. Looking distinguished in dark red, the car presents beautifully showing only the odd blemish in its paintwork. Whilst given a Category C insurance loss after an accident in 2007, the then owner decided to have their pride and joy repaired themselves and returned to the road. Once the work was completed, they had the car inspected by VOSA in 2008 at which time the vehicle was given a VIC Pass, confirming that all the damage had been repaired properly and that the car was roadworthy and repaired to factory condition. The vendor had the car inspected and serviced by renowned Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist Michael Hibberd in May 2019. Spending £11,000 there, the vendor made sure not to leave any stone unturned. With all of this work having been carried out only 2,000 miles ago, it is no surprise that the vendor reports the car to run and drive very well and is incredibly smooth. Upgraded with a discreet stereo system, you can now use your mobile telephone handsfree whilst driving. An added benefit of course, is that this 6.75 litre beauty is ULEZ exempt.
Supplied with a V5C registration document, valid MoT test certificate, receipts and original stamped service book and handbook. Providing excellent value, these handsome luxury saloons provide huge value for money. Consigned by Will Penrose.
Guide Price: £8,000-£10,000
