Description

"The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 through to 1980 and was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches narrower and seven inches shorter than its predecessor, the Silver Cloud, but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging. Aside from a more modern appearance and construction, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes replacing drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous models. It featured a 189bhp 6.75 litre V8 engine from 1970 onwards, mated to a Turbo Hydromantic 400 transmission supplied by General Motors. The superb ride quality achieved in the Shadow was thanks to the innovative high-pressure hydraulic system with dual circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension.
Parked in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace when viewed, this example of the Iconic Silver Shadow was first registered on 1ST December 1972 and is offered with the original build sheet and bill of sale. Presented in Black Pearl over Shell Grey with Cherry Red trim this lovely useable example of the Shadow I boasts a service book and A4 binder of history with invoices equating to over £40,000. Of late the car has had an all-important brake overhaul for which the invoice is also found within the history file. Accompanying the car is the original toolkit, sale brochure and two sets of keys. This MoT test exempt Silver Shadow I is a lovely looking example of British workmanship and luxury motoring, still oozing class 51 years after its manufacture and of course ULEZ compliant.
Guide Price: £10,000 - £15,000
