Vehicle history:

The Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, introduced in 1949, was the Rolls-Royce variant of the Bentley MK VI. At first it was intended exclusively for export, as the Rolls-Royce name was much more effective in advertising abroad than Bentley. Therefore, a large part of the 761 Silver Dawns produced up to 1955 were delivered with left-hand drive. In contrast to the Silver Wraith, the Silver Dawn was the first Rolls-Royce that was offered complete with a finished body. Technically, the Silver Dawn corresponded to the great Silver Wraith. The engine was an exceptionally robust and reliable construction, and mileage far beyond 500,000 km was possible. The Silver Dawn was a bit smaller than the Silver Wraith, but offered everything Rolls-Royce had to offer at the time: an English club atmosphere with lots of walnut wood, very comfortable armchairs made of hand-sewn leather and picnic tables. Thanks to its compact external dimensions, the Silver Dawn, in contrast to the Silver Wraith, was a car for self-drive, but it was also suitable as a car for chauffeur-driven use.
