In 1967, the Silver Shadow cabriolet was introduced, the result of a new partnership between Rolls-Royce and London coachbuilder H.J Mulliner Park Ward. Its widely acclaimed comfort is characterised by the suppleness of its suspension, the silence of its V8 engine and its equipment (air conditioning, radio, power steering, electrically adjustable seats, electrically operated soft top, etc.).
This Rolls-Royce convertible changed its name from Silver Shadow to Corniche in March 1971. Numerous improvements were made over time. The result was a car that propelled itself straight into the 21st century without any difficulty, quite the opposite in fact.
In 1977, the car was completely redesigned to become the Corniche II, and remained in the catalogue until 1989, when the Corniche III was launched.
Our Corniche II Cabriolet is one of the last to be produced, delivered new by the British Royal Motorcars dealership in Houston, a Rolls Royce agent. Its service book shows that the car was serviced by the same dealership until 1993. In 2014, the car reappeared in California, where it was serviced by the brand's Los Angeles network. In 2019, its current owner purchased it from the same dealership, and once imported into France, it was given a general overhaul, including a rebuild of the soft top and woodwork, at a cost of more than €15,000.
This Rolls-Royce has a long history and is sound. A symbol of the 80s in the same way as the Testarossa or the 930, it is a distinguished cabriolet with a timeless look and contemporary comfort, in a good state of presentation and working order.
