Description

Chassis No. SCAYD42A8CCX04364

Long known as the final word for elegance, the Rolls-Royce Corniche was first introduced to the world in 1971. Incredibly, in various series it lasted into the 1990s, yet the early 1980s must be its prime years. Always a status symbol, the Corniche, so named for the coastal roads traversed by the Monegasque, was the vehicle that conveyed the image of the exceptionally wealthy to a global audience. It is no different today, yet the Corniche was also the result of both the artisans at Crewe and Mulliner Park Ward who shaped the bodywork by hand, with each Corniche said to have taken five months to create. While technology began to gradually arrive in the form of Bosch fuel-injection, digital displays, and automatic ride height control, Rolls-Royce did not forget to include their traditional luxuries such as the finest English Connolly leather, matching lacquered hardwood veneers, and Lambswool carpeting. Despite its weight at just over three tons, the Corniche could reach 120 miles per hour in large part due to its 6.75-liter V8 engine.

Produced October 1981 for the U.S.-market, this 1982 Rolls-Royce Corniche was specified in Porcelain White over a Tan Connolly leather interior and a coordinated Brown soft top. Sold to the Stephens family via British Motors located in Monterey, California this Corniche has been retained in sole ownership for the past 42 years. In that time, this supremely elegant conveyance has covered just 32,338 miles at cataloging and remains "as delivered" with its current condition commensurate with its mileage. In fact, it retains its handbooks, tools and bulb kit along with a selection of service receipts and a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report. Cheerful additions include a front grille badge bar with RROC, AA, and Rolls-Royce Hawaii Region license plate toppers. Far more than a motor car, the Rolls-Royce Corniche may be the unexpected impetus for a coastal journey along Highway 1 to destinations unknown.
