Description
This Rolls-Royce 20 chassis GAJ7 was displayed as a “rolling chassis” at the London Olympia motor show in October 1926 and sold to its first owner from Notting Hill in January 1927. Following his request, the chassis was taken to Hooper and Co. coach builders where it received a saloon coachwork. On the 5th of May 1927 the car was delivered to the London agents Barker & Co. followed by a first registration on the 30th of June of the same year. In August 1983 the Rolls-Royce, which by then was in a rather sorry state but still had only three owners in its book, was acquired by the vendor. In the following years the lovely saloon was completely restored. To maintain utmost originality a colour sample was taken from another Rolls-Royce from the same manufacturing year and the car was repainted by hand. The interior was restored with new blue Connolly leather and the matching numbers engine received a more modern and effective oil filter during its overhaul. For improved safety, the rear lights were modified and equipped with separate functions for lights, brakes and indicators. Over the last 40 years the Rolls-Royce was enthusiastically used on special occasions. The saloon is in good and absolutely on the button condition and the 69’100 miles shown apparently reflect the actual mileage. The last veteran MOT was completed in June 2018.
