Finished an an exclusive combination of 432 Monaco Blue with contrasting gold wheels and decals the boxy silhouette of the Clio Williams 3 is something of a hot hatch legend, and looking at this stunning example its easy to see why. With its F1 inspired colour scheme, defined arches and slightly offset front intake, the Clio Williams carries with a fantastic sense of nostalgia from an era that solidified the French hot hatch in the motoring world.

Having covered 77k miles from new the car presents well; with a deep shine throughout the metallic blue paintwork glistens beautifully. Surrounding trim and lights also presently pleasingly well, free from any signs of fading or cracks throughout.

Stepping into the cabin of the Clio is a 90’s timewarp experience, with its plastic dashboard, pop-out rear windows and incredible Williams embroidered velour sports seats all harking back to a much simpler time. Being a Williams 3 this example does come with a few refinement over its earlier counterparts, specified from new with electric windows, mirrors and sunroof. Stashed neatly in the centre console sits an upgraded Alpine CD/FM Radio, providing some modern usability without disrupting the period feel of the space thanks to a fold down cover which aptly conceals the system.

Considering the age of the Clio is approaching 26 years old, condition of the interior is incredible. Showing free from any unsightly stains or tears the deeply bolstered sports still provide excellent support whilst the steering wheel, gearstick and surrounding trim show free from any obvious signs of wear.

Developed by Renault to well and truly outclass its rivals, the Clio Williams features a 2L 16v inline-4, which is much more special than it initially seems. Build exclusively for the Clio Williams the engine features a longer stroke, bigger bore, stronger crankshaft, new pistons, new camshafts, bigger valves and a lightweight exhaust manifold. The end result was an output of 150bhp in a car with a dry weight of just over a tonne, meaning 0-60 took just 7.8 seconds and an impressive top speed of 134mph.

Mechanically everything is in excellent order, with a comprehensive service history outlining stringent maintenance throughout the Clio’s lifetime.

The 15 inch Speedline alloy wheels present beautifully in their designated shade of gold and show in excellent condition, free from any signs of curbing or damage. Matching Toyo Proxes tyres sit at each corner with excellent depth remaining all around.

Supplied new on 08/09/1995 this Clio Williams 3 is the rarest of the limited edition trio, making up just just over 1,600 of the 12,100 Clio Williams produced worldwide. This example benefits from a comprehensive service history, with invoices and stamps from a combination of specialists and main dealers tracing all the was back to the cars first service in September 1996, and even containing its full pre delivery inspection checklist from 1995. A number of extra invoices also show interim oil changes in between regular services, showing the level of car and maintenance the car was subject to with its previous keepers.

The car was purchased by the last owner in 2011 with just over 72k miles and the clock, and has covered less than 5k miles in their 10 year ownership. Having been used sparingly the car has been serviced based on mileage rather than time, but has had a considerable amount of work done to ensure everything is mechanically sound, including a new clutch, cambelts, and engine mounts with the last owner.

An almost complete MOT history also helps to verify the low mileage of the Clio, with a stack of certificates and more recent online log tracking the cars use and upkeep over the last 26 years.

Present with the car is the original book pack in its plastic folder, stamped service book, Clio Williams promotional brochure and a comprehensive file of maintenance invoices
