Description

GENERAL

This Alpine A110 is one of the first 1600 models built. As just 199 Alpines were produced in 1969, this is a very rare example. Offered here is a genuine 1600 model that was upgraded to 1600S specifications and fitted with two twin-Weber 40 carburetors.

A nice example of a true rally legend, one of its most notable successes being the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally victory, with Swedish driver Ove Andersson at the wheel.

This example was imported from Switzerland three years ago and is currently registered in Belgium. The front valance has a few chip marks, but nothing structural.
EXTERIOR

This Alpine has been restored and is presented in a very nice signature Blue Alpine. This clean looking example is ready to be driven and enjoyed.

The paintwork is of good quality. Although there are some very minor marks and crazes in the fiberglass bodywork - to be expected on the thin fiberglass Alpine bodies-, they do not distract from the car’s appeal. We believe you cannot get more French then with a car like this, fully equipped with yellow headlights.

It is wearing original Gotty rims, shodded with Goodyear GT2 tires.

INTERIOR

The interior features bucket seats with grippy fabric centres, a trip master, roll-cage and a special machine-turned aluminium dashboard.

The overall feel of the interior is that of a car that is used lovingly, but looked after at the same time.

The seats aren’t showroom new and there is some wear on the driver’s side seat bolster, but this doesn’t distract from the charm and cleanliness of this rally-spec car.

The large instrument dials, moto-lita steering wheel and the aluminium dash carry the competition spirit into the car’s cockpit. The odometer is displaying 42.195 km, which is entirely plausible considering the car’s overall condition.

ENGINE

The R16 TS Cléon-Alu engine has been upgraded from the original single carburetor to twin Weber 40 carburetors.

This Alpine runs nicely and pulls strongly. The car starts, steers, and brakes without effort. It is our opinion that this Alpine has been well-maintained in the past.
BODY

There aren’t many 1600 CC Renault-powered cars we wanted to drive nearly as badly as this one. The undercarriage is clean and sound.
PAPER TRAIL

The car is currently registered in Belgium and comes with its registration certificate and Provenance document by Renault. The previous Swiss ‘Fahrzeugausweis’ is also included.
