Description

• One of three Interscope chassis built for the first Porsche Indycar Project
• Believed to be the sole surviving Porsche “940” Indycar
• Original chassis, original engine and original gearbox
• Completely restored to running condition – finished in 2020

For the first attempt to compete in the Indycar series and especially at the Indianapolis 500 Porsche teamed up with the successful Indy- and Sportscar-Racing team Interscope of Santa Ana, California to build a completely new constructed ground effect chassis for the 1981 season. Porsche delivered a modified methanol run variant of the Porsche 935 engine with a single turbocharger and a mixed water/air-cooling layout. The car on offer is one of three chassis constructed and believed to be the only surviving chassis in Porsche spec with an original type 935/72 engine.
