Description

"In February 1991, Porsche released the 944 Turbo Cabriolet, which combined the Turbo S's 250bhp engine with the cabriolet body built by the ASC-American Sunroof Company at Weinsberg in Germany. Porsche initially announced that 600 would be made but ultimately 625 were built; 100 of which were right hand drive and, of these, 50 are believed to have been supplied to the UK and the remaining 50 were sent between Australia, South Africa and Japan. The Porsche 944 Turbo Cabriolet was built on the platform of the later 944 S2 series and was in fact one of the most powerful open top sports cars available at the time, and with a 0-60mph time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 162mph, the 944 Turbo cabriolet is by no means a slouch even in today’s market. The Standard specification included Porsche anti-theft, Blaupunkt Symphony stereo radio cassette player, air conditioning and electric seats and, with a start price of £46,994, the car became a direct contender for its brother, the 911, but at a higher price.
This example has had just five former keepers from new and is presented in good order throughout, offered in Guards Red coachwork over a black leather interior. Its specification includes the limited-slip differential and air-conditioning as well as the upgraded Grundig stereo and eight-speaker sound system. The paintwork is good showing little sign of age and the interior is largely unmarked and presents well. Maintained regardless of cost, this 944 has been the subject of much service work, the most recent undertaken in July 2020 and carried out by Porsche Centre Leeds, it included a multi-point check and MoT test certificate. Prior to this, an oil and filter service was carried out in august 2019, and an annual service in august 2018. The cambelt was last changed by Porsche Centre Leeds in September 2015 at 58,459 miles and four new matching Pirelli P Zero tyres were fitted around 700 miles ago. Showing circa 59,800 miles on the odometer, this 944 Turbo comes complete with a history file containing the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, confirming the factory equipment, the original Porsche book pack, manual, and stamped service book, as well as a sizeable folder of sundry bills along with the UK registration document."
