"There is little doubt that Porsche build extremely good cars but it is the limited build models that, understandably, attract the greatest attention. Porsche initially announced that 600 Turbo Cabriolets would be made, but ultimately 625 were built, 100 of which were righthand drive and of these, 50 are believed to have been supplied to the UK. It was one of the most powerful open top sports cars available at the time with a top speed of 162mph. Impressive even by today’s standards.
This, therefore rare and original Porsche 944 Turbo Cabriolet, spent most of its time in and around Exeter in the ownership of a local doctor who used it to commute between Devon and Cornwall for work and consultations; his only reason for sale was retirement and relocation to a smaller property with no garage. The car has been maintained fastidiously with the majority of work carried out by the main dealer, Porsche Exeter, who also carried out engine work and fitted a new turbo. With only five keepers from new, it comes with an extraordinary full-service history with only the last two services carried out by an independent Porsche specialist to include a full service, cambelt, pulleys and tensioner change and a brake servo overhaul. Finished in Alpine White with a Cobalt Blue leather interior, it benefits from a new blue hood and tonneau cover, this 944 Turbo is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate expiring in November, two sets of keys and immobilisers, original handbooks, original dealer brochure, a service book with 20 service stamps in it and a file containing a number of invoices and old MoT test certificates. It sits on the correct wheels and presents beautifully with no apparent age-related marks and a very good interior and roof, not to mention an indoor car cover. A great driver’s car but, with an eye on the future, something of an investment to boot."
