Description

"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HYThe 944 was to feature new styling based upon the Le Mans styled Porsche 924 Carrera GT, along with a brand new Porsche designed and developed 2.5 litre, four cylinder engine. Sales of the 168bhp coupé went through the roof with a massive 26,800 Porsche 944s being produced by the end of 1982. To put this figure into context, the entire Porsche company made just 28,000 cars in 1981. The new Porsche owners were attracted by the stunning looks and presence of the model and in 1985, the 'Lux' coupé arrived with a completely new interior design dominated by a smooth, sweeping oval dashboard. This severed all ties with the 924 and completed the move upmarket for the 944. The dash provided improved ergonomics for the instruments with all useful components and buttons placed close at hand.
This very good 1982 Porsche 944 fitted with the rare automatic gearbox was purchased by the current owner in 2018. He sent the car directly to CSG Motor Company Ltd who carried out a full major service, replaced the cambelt, fitted new vibration damper, replaced all the hoses, new fuel tank, new door seals and fitted a new exhaust. They also removed body panels, trims, and handles from both sides of the car, carried out repairs as necessary then painted the repaired panels; the cost of all this work totalled around £11,000. Finished in Guards Red with contrasting black cloth and leather interior, the car has electric windows, the original radio cassette and is supplied with a V5 registration document and MoT test certificate which expires in June 2021. Also accompanying the car is the owner’s manual wallet containing original owner’s manuals and service history stamped up to 2000 and a file with old invoices and past MoT test certificates. This is a highly desirable 944, one for the serious enthusiast of the front-engine Porsche.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
