Description

"These fabulous sports cars were unveiled at the Geneva Salon in 1977 and voted Car of the Year for 1978. It was intended as an upmarket replacement for the long-running 911 but in the event Porsche's rear-engined classic would outlive its younger sibling. The front-engined 928's stylish hatchback body featured aluminium doors, bonnet and front wings in the interests of weight saving, while ingenious impact resistant 'bumpers' made of colour matched plastic were incorporated into the nose and tail. A five speed transaxle gearbox or three speed automatic were the transmission options, in 1979 the 928S with its 4.6 litre engine arrived and then in 1986 the model was further revised and restyled, becoming the 928 S4. Its engine producing 320bhp courtesy of twin-cam, 16 valve cylinder heads and enlargement to 4,957cc, the S4 enjoyed a welcome top speed boost to 160mph.
This extremely desirable example is probably finished in the best colour combination of metallic Marine Blue with blue and cream leather interior and highly polished alloy wheels, which makes for a very striking and handsome vehicle. Work completed in the past two years comprises of timing belt and tensioner rebuild, including oil refresh, rubber boot and gasket, fuel hoses replaced, main relays, fuel pump, Bosch Super Plus WR7DC and ignition amplifier. New exhaust gaskets were fitted as were rubber mounts and brackets. Some of the vehicle enhancements comprised of X-Pipe replacement for standard down pipe from Ritech systems, this sharpens response and performance and enhances the wonderful V8 sound. MAF rebuild by John Speake (JDS Porsche), this resolves flat spot and improves mpg figures. Paul Anderson at Porsche 928 Spares Ltd. replaced, using genuine Porsche parts, the door stays, bumper piping, window scraper seals, boot trim clips, sealing rings, cowl/bulkhead cover, bonnet struts, rear luggage compartment cover and much more. According to the vendor, this lovely Porsche drives exceptionally well, pulling strongly throughout the rev range and in all gears cruising and overtaking effortlessly. This car is supplied with all handbooks, 13 stamps in the service book, old MoT test certificates and service receipts. The private plate ADZ 928 is included in the sale making it even more desirable."
