Description

This classic car is for sale on Catawiki. To have more information or to place a bid click on the "BID NOW" button. .For sale is what I consider to be an exceptional Porsche 914 from 1972 in the legendary "Martini" design. Mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, Boxer, Targa, 2-seater. In fact, everything that Porsche stands for and which is also slowly being felt on the market. Besides the design, the condition is also special and should be a condition 2. The Porsche is mostly original, only the paintwork, the wheels and a few small parts have been renewed as far as I know.

The area of the tank in the front boot is still completely original so that you can see what good substance is safely hidden under the new paint.

In the following I will try to give you as detailed as possible an overview of this piece of jewellery.
Video on request.

General and condition:
VW-Porsche 914/4 with Karmann body.
4-cylinder boxer with great sound.
Removable roof (can be stowed in the rear luggage compartment).
Almost rust-free, even at the neuralgic points.
Classic car license plate (H-Kennzeichen).
German MOT (TÜV).
German registration.
Directly ready to drive.
Chrome bumpers in almost perfect condition.
No thick undercoating. Here you can still see exactly the structure of the sheet metal.
Radio, lights, high beam, reversing lights, speedometer etc. everything works fine.

Exchanged/ repaired:
Engine compartment, underbody and exterior repainted (silver again as original).
The engine was removed for painting and every hose, cable, ignition, ignition distributor etc. was checked and replaced if necessary.
Radio (works).
New tyres and rims.
New brakes.
Martini stickers (can also be removed again).
Exhaust (muffler) in mint condition.
Almost all seals (doors, boot etc.) renewed.
Steering wheel re-leathered.
Custom-fit dashboard cover.
And many more.

Original:
Engine.
Transmission.
Original direct injection.
Interior is almost completely original and well maintained.

History:
Built in West Germany.
Vehicle originates from sunny California and was re-imported in 2020. At the time of the sale the seller was 60 years old and had called the car his own for decades. He sold it because he treated himself to a 911.
Restored largely in the USA with finish in Germany.
Please note: The paintwork was not simply sprayed over. The paintwork is of German standard and the Porsche was obviously also disassembled for this purpose, for example the windows outside.
Blue plate vehicle.
According to the previous owner, the driver's door was replaced once.

Shortcomings:
A few small stone chips.
Slight oil loss at the oil filter.
Horn via extra switch.

Gearbox and engine do have matching numbers according to the tables and paperwork, but I do not have a certificate from Porsche for the exact numbers.

The car is not perfect, but it is certainly one of the better 914s.
