1968 Porsche 912

French vintage vehicle registration document
• A charming example
• An iconic model in Porsche's history
• An unusual and attractive configuration
When Porsche launched the 911, its high price quickly made it inaccessible to some of its long-standing customers. To remedy this, the Stuttgart-based company developed a more affordable version: the Porsche 912, unveiled in April 1965. Using the chassis, bodywork and most of the technical components of the 911, the 912 was equipped with a four-cylinder engine derived from that of the 356, which was lighter and simpler, but still sporty.
Visually, only a few details distinguish a 912 from a 911, making it an elegant and coherent alternative that retains all the Porsche DNA with agile and balanced handling thanks to its reduced weight.
The model on offer was delivered new to the United States on 15 September 1968 in Sand Beige. Imported to Europe in 2013, it was then restored (without invoices) and repainted in an elegant Glas Blue, a rare colour that is particularly flattering on this model.
In 2020, its current owner, seduced by its personality and presentation, acquired it. He made a few subtle and tasteful modifications, reinforcing its character: Nardi steering wheel, chrome windscreen wipers, Becker radio, 356 gauges,
all touches that add to its charm without betraying its original spirit.
Since then, this 912 has been regularly maintained. Front brakes and a suspension ball joint are required to obtain a valid MOT.
With a French collector's registration document, this Porsche 912 will appeal to enthusiasts of authentic models, rare configurations and simple but characterful mechanics. An excellent way to experience the world of classic Porsches in style... and without excess.
