The 2.4 S Targa
The final-year 2.4-litre 911 S is one of the most desirable early 911 variants, combining the high-revving, mechanically fuel-injected flat-six with the distinctive open-air design of the Targa. With its characteristic roll bar and removable roof panel, it offers a particularly engaging way to experience the classic 911.
This 911 S Targa
One of only 925 F-series 911 S Targas built for the final 1973 model year, this example was delivered new in Belgium through D’Ieteren. According to the available documentation, it has remained in Belgium throughout its life.
The car was acquired in 1998 by a former President of the Porsche Club of Belgium, before passing to its current owner in 2017. At the time of that purchase, the odometer showed under 47.000 km; it now reads 52.760 km.
The car left the factory in Gemini Blue Metallic, a particularly attractive shade that suits the lines of the early Targa beautifully. It has been repainted in the past and today presents as an appealing driver, with visible signs of age and use.
The interior appears largely original, including the seats, upholstery and carpeting as well as the still functioning radio. The original chrome details, factory-tinted glass and correct wheels further contribute to its period character
The real strength of this 911 lies in its mechanical condition. The factory 2.4-litre S engine and mechanical fuel injection pump remain in place, and our compression tests and road test indicate a healthy, powerful engine. During the current ownership, around 2019 with 50.200km on the odo, the car received substantial mechanical attention, including a full engine and gearbox rebuild, together with significant work to the suspension and braking systems. The total investment exceeded €30,000.
This work makes the car particularly appealing to someone looking for an early 911 to drive and enjoy, rather than a freshly restored showpiece. Its paintwork and interior are older, but its mechanical preparation and engaging driving character are the priorities here. Inside the front compartment, the bodywork and paintwork remain completely original and unmolested.
The car comes with its original spare wheel, tool kit, jack and the accompanying history file includes invoices covering approximately the last decade, previous registration documents, the original 1973 certificate of conformity and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (COA)
With its Belgian history, attractive Gemini Blue Metallic finish, original S mechanical specification and extensive mechanical investment, this 911 S Targa offers the opportunity to enjoy one of the most sought-after early 911 variants in honest, usable condition.
The car is currently Belgian-registered.
