The 911 with a 2,400 cc engine displacement went into production in 1971, replacing the 2.2.
The 2.4 was improved in many ways and, above all, there was an increase in power, which allowed the ‘T’ version (i.e. the carburettor version) to reach a power of 130 hp.
The 2.4 plays a very important role in the history of the 911 since it represents the last series called ‘pre-bumper’ (i.e. without the large ‘bellows’ bumpers). Moreover, the 2.4 is also the last series to offer the variant with carburettor engine, version discontinued in 1974 with the 2.7 because of the anti-pollution laws.

In addition, this model boasts an extra rarity, the outer oil cap on the right side.
This first-time version was only used for (about) one year, because many confused it with the petrol tank cap.
