Description

Porsche’s long-running and much-loved 911 sports car first appeared at the 1963 Frankfurt Show as the ‘901’, but shortly after production commenced in 1964, it become the ‘911’. The preceding Porsche 356’s rear-engined layout was retained, but the 911 switched to a more modern McPherson strut and trailing-arm suspension arrangement in place of the previous VW system. In its first incarnation, Porsche’s single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled, flat-six engine displaced 1,991cc and the first of countless upgrades to the perennial 911 came in 1966, two years after production had commenced, with the introduction of the 911S and, in 1967, the 911T (Touring). Further revisions were made in 1969 when the 911’s wheelbase was extended by 57mm, which transformed the handling of the car. By 1970 the engine capacity had increased to 2,195cc.

The Porsche 911 T Targa offered here at Autostorico is finished in Silver Grey metallic with Brown leather interior trim. Originally supplied into the North American market in 1970, it was purchased by its current owner who had been searching for an original car that had never corroded, given that it had lived its entire life in a dry climate. The car was imported into the UK in 2017 at which point the car he undertook a no expense spared nut and bolt restoration which was carried out by the well-known and respected Classic car restorer Automo. Works included removing the engine and gearbox and stripping the whole body, before a bare metal respray. The car was then subject to a full mechanical overhaul. Including engine, gearbox, suspension, braking system and re-wire. Other notable works included new interior trim.

Supplied with a current V5 registration document, fully documented photographic restoration, various invoices and other related history.

This is a perfect opportunity to own the very sought-after Porsche which has been restored to ‘As New’ condition and is a joy to drive.
