Description
"Introduced in 1984, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 was the last incarnation of the ‘pure’ 911 and was a replacement for the SC model, made between 1978 and 1983. The engine capacity was increased to 3.2 litres, Bosch fuel injection was fitted, and power was up to 231bhp, at least for the European market. With a lack of driver aids such as ABS and power steering, the Carrera 3.2 is said to offer one of the purest 911 driving experiences. Rarest of them all is the ‘Turbo look’ widebody, known as the ‘Super Sport’ in the UK. The lucky few buyers would have had to place their order through the ‘Sonderwusch’ (special wishes) programme and stump up in excess of £10,000 over the base price.
Presented in Guards Red with a black leather trim and boasting the Super Sport code ‘491’, this widebody, turbo wing example had been owned by its vendor since 2005. The original service booklet shows a comprehensive service history with main dealer and specialists until 2002 and 81,132 miles, since this date it has been cared for both by vendor and a local mechanic who was a Porsche enthusiast. Countless MoT test certificates show that since 2002 the mileage has year on year been reducing with the last few years trips restricted to 150-200 miles only, the car has however always remained garaged in this time. A car that boasts just six former keepers, one being husband and wife, this example will also receive a new MoT test certificate prior to the sale and represents one of the most desirable 80’s Porsche’s money can buy. The History file includes the full book pack, V5C registration document, MoT test certificates and valuations from JZM Porsche coupled to a number of invoices and technical specifications. This example with the G50 gearbox and 3.2 litre flat-six engine has to be seen to be appreciated and will be very popular given the upswell in 80’s 911 values.
