Description

1982 Porsche 911 Type 930 3.3-Litre Turbo Coupé
Chassis no. WP0ZZZ93ZDS00023

It was the FIA's Group 4 homologation rules, requiring 400 road cars to be built in order to qualify for racing, which spurred the development of 'Project 930': the legendary 911 Turbo, in production from April 1975. In 1978 the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3 litres; power increased to 300bhp and the top speed of what was the fastest-accelerating road car of its day went up to 257km/h. More refined than hitherto yet retaining its high-performance edge, the Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.

This example was produced in 1982 for the Belgian market and exported by the Belgian dealer to Arizona, USA, where the Turbo had not been sold officially since 1980. The current vendor bought the car from the previous owner in the USA in 2012. In 2015 the (matching) engine was completely overhauled to 'as new' condition by a Porsche specialist at 81,981 kilometres. Preserved rust-free by the dry Arizona climate, the car has covered circa 90,000 kilometres and is described by the private vendor as in generally good condition. The seats are newly re-upholstered, while the sensible upgrade of a Porsche G50 five-speed manual gearbox is the only notified deviation from factory specification. Accompanying documentation consists of the engine rebuild invoice (for €17,000) and German registration papers.
