Description

For the 1978 model year, Porsche replaced its 911 S with an updated version called the SC or “Super Carrera.” While resembling the outgoing model, the SC featured rear fender flares and wider rear tires to match and an enlarged 3.0-liter engine producing 180 hp that provided a boost in overall performance and reliability. This 911 SC is one of approximately 400 Weissach Editions built for the 1980 model year and named for Porsche’s then-nascent research and development center. The specialedition Porsches were available in just two colors and received additional equipment including a front chin spoiler, Turbo Carrera-style rear spoiler, stiffer Bilstein shocks, and 15x7" and 8" forged Fuchs alloy wheels. Finished in Metallic Black over a Doric Grey full-leather interior, this Porsche 911 SC registered 62,700 miles on its odometer at the time of cataloguing. Believed by the consignor to retain its factory-applied paint that shows only minor blemishes, the sport seats show the patina of careful use and its components are reported in working order. Records dating to 1990 accompany the sale including a September 2019 receipt indicating an oil change and valve adjustment.

Accompanied by books, tools, keys, spare tire, and jack, this lovely Porsche has resided in the Tommy Trabue Collection for over 20 years, after it was purchased in California in 1998. The astute collector would not waste any time to acquire this very original, one-year-only 911 SC Weissach Edition.
