Description

"The 911 Turbo, introduced in 1975 would remain in production until 1989, and was sufficiently different from previous versions to earn a new 930 model number. These were proper ‘Supercars’, amongst the fastest production cars available at the time, and are now felt by many to be the cars that defined the early eighties. Developed initially for homologation purposes, the turbocharged 911 was first seen at the 1973 Paris Auto Show as a pre-production prototype, essentially to gauge reaction, and went on sale a couple of years later as the 911(930) Turbo. The basic engine underpinnings came from the Carrera 2.7 RS with the capacity increased to 3.0 litres and, of course, turbocharged using the vast amount of recent experience with forced air induction that Porsche had gained from their 917/30 Can-Am programme. Externally distinctive with its 'whale tail' rear spoiler, wide tyres, bulging wheel arches and macho stance, 930s were surprisingly civilised with air conditioning, electric windows, a leather interior, tinted glass, headlamp washers and Bilstein shock absorbers as standard.
This very well presented 3.0 litre turbo is one of the finest examples we have seen here at Historics. This 911 has been treated to an extensive restoration which included a refinish to the paintwork and an engine rebuild. In wonderful order throughout, this 911 is offered in its original and rare colour combination of Sahara Desert over a Cork Brown leather interior. Both paintwork and interior are presented in very good order throughout showing no real signs of age since the restoration. Reported to be in very good driving order this 911 comes complete with sunroof, original sport seats and has recently been fitted with a new exhaust system. The history file that accompanies this car includes the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the owner’s manual and a toolkit. This delightful example is in a rare and desirable colour combination comes complete with EU taxes paid documentation and a NOVA.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
