The 991.2 was more than just a model update for the Porsche Group in 2015. The "normal" 911s, Carrera and Carrera S, were fitted with turbo engines for the first time instead of the classic naturally aspirated engines, providing plenty of talking points. The appearance of the GT3 RS, still based on the 991.1 in the same year, was nevertheless more than just a footnote. The GT3 did not switch to the 991.2 generation until two years later, and the GT3 RS did not switch until 2018.
At its heart was the 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine, which delivered 520 hp at a breathtaking 9,000 rpm. Increasing the power by 20 hp was anything but an easy task for the developers, given the mandatory petrol particulate filter. This makes it not only the most powerful, but also the highest-revving naturally aspirated engine in the history of the production 911. In conjunction with the specially tuned PDK dual-clutch transmission, the GT3 RS accelerated to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, reached 200 km/h in 11.1 seconds and a top speed of 312 km/h – figures that were as impressive as they were terrifying.
But the true strength of the 991.2 GT3 RS lay in the details. The aerodynamics were significantly refined compared to its predecessor: a newly designed front apron with larger air intakes, an even wider rear wing and optimised underbody management provided noticeably more downforce. Lightweight construction remained the top priority: the doors, fenders and bonnet are made of carbon fibre, the rear windows of plastic. The interior is spartan and functional – bucket seats, roll cage, not a gram too much.
Its home is the racetrack. At the Nürburgring, traditionally the benchmark for Porsche, the GT3 RS 991.2 broke the magical seven-minute mark and beat its predecessor's time by 23 seconds – a result that catapulted it into the Olympus of road-legal vehicles. Nevertheless, it is not purely a competition machine, but a car that masters the balancing act between everyday usability and motorsport with impressive consistency. This generation of the GT3 RS was only built for two years in limited numbers. Porsche did not present its successor until 2022.
The GT3 has always been the Swiss Army knife of the racetrack: reliable, precise, close to perfection – and yet refined a little more with each generation. Unfortunately, the latest series have all too often become objects of speculation and have been robbed of their actual purpose. They were built for one purpose only: uncompromising driving.
This Porsche GT3 RS was delivered in October 2019 with the following specifications: black exterior paint (A1A1), black upholstery (29), Chrono package and pre-equipment for Laptimer (QR5), Clubsport package (003), floor mats (810), 90-litre fuel tank (082), black LED headlights incl. PDLS (XEY), front axle lift system (474), smoker's package (583), rear view camera (7X9), cruise control (454), white Sport Chrono stopwatch dial (CGJ), white instrument cluster dials (XFJ).
Since 2021, the car has been registered to the owner in the Salzburg region. In 2022 and 2023, it was serviced at the Porsche dealership in Zell am See at 9,376 and 15,658 kilometres respectively. To date, the GT3 RS has only covered 19,071 kilometres and is therefore practically in new condition.
What a Porsche GT3 RS is really capable of can be expressed in numbers – but you have to experience it for yourself. This RS also impresses with the most classic of all colour combinations: all in black, with just the right accents. You have to see it, or better yet, drive it. Here's your chance.
