Description
"Following the launch of the 911/996, Porsche launched the GT3, the first 996 variant intended for the racetrack. Its 3.6 litre engine was derived from the GT1 and delivered 360bhp at 7,200rpm, offering 60 additional horsepower over the base 3.4 litre motor in the standard Carrera. It was also fitted with adjustable suspension and a unique body kit, including a dual-plane rear wing. The interior featured sports seats, whilst some of the interior trim was removed to keep weight down. Porsche also built a track only version of the GT3, dubbed the GT3 Clubsport. Only a handful of differences can be noted in comparison to the GT3, including the fitment of a full roll cage and a Nomex covered driver’s seat with side airbags omitted. Whilst not generally intended for daily driving, this edition was track-ready in every aspect and able to compete in a number of racing series worldwide.
Originally registered on 6th September 2004, this Porsche has only had two former keepers, the vendor having owned her since July 2006. This is a GT3 that presents in excellent order throughout, the metallic Basalt Black coachwork is virtually unmarked as is the full black leather interior. The 3596cc six cylinder engine sounds delightful and mated to a six speed manual gearbox, this Porsche certainly travels with alacrity. Owned by a Porsche enthusiast, this low mileage example comes with a significant amount of invoices and the original handbooks. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a full year’s MoT test certificate, this 996 GT3 is described as driving with no known faults. These cars are best described as a ‘wolf in sheep's clothing’ offering the flexibility of pottering around in traffic or enjoying the power available to your right foot."
