The Porsche 997 GT2 RS is a timeless creation of engineering art, with performance that is envied, even by the standards of today. To power the GT2 RS is a twin-turbo 3.6 litre flat-six boxer engine producing a staggering 612 bhp to the rear wheels, making it the highest power manual transmission car ever built by Porsche to date. The 700 Nm of torque allows the GT2 RS to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds, and top out at 205 mph. These figures will allow the 997 GT2 RS to remain among one of the greats within the range of the 911 family.

The performance data produced by the GT2 RS isn’t just for show either. The most notable performance figure could perhaps be the time executed around the Nürburgring Nordschleife of 7 minutes and 18 seconds, faster than the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 and the Maserati MC12. Part of the reason this time was achieved is down to the revision of components in order to save weight. The rear axle struts are made from aluminium, the rear window and rear side windows are polycarbonate and the door panels have been designed with only the necessary features. Soundproofing has also been removed, further reducing weight and adding to the driver focus, connecting the driver directly to the GT2 RS – every moment is felt. These adaptations and enhancements mean the 997 GT2 RS weighs in at just 1,370 kg, exactly the same as the 997 GT3 RS, allowing for a higher power-to-weight ratio.

Only 500 examples of the 997 GT2 RS were ever made, increasing their collectability and resale value. The 997 GT2 RS was born on the racetrack, with an engine and technologies derived from Le Mans race heritage but has just enough road compliance for UK roads. The 997 GT2 RS is a very worthy consideration for any serious collector. Finished in perhaps one of the most iconic colours, GT Silver, our example offers low mileage and a combination of carbon bucket seats with carbon front fenders, which is rarely found on the market. There are believed to be only 20 C16 UK cars on the road, so don’t miss this rare opportunity to acquire one with such low mileage and just 2 owners from new.
