Description
Taking its name from the FIA’s GT2 category of production sports car racing, Porsche’s GT2 model has been produced since the 993 generation and has always been considered one of its most exciting road-going models. The 996 GT2 was based on the 996 Turbo, but it was lighter, rear-wheel-drive only, and upgrades included larger turbochargers and forged connecting rods.
The consignor purchased this exceptional example in 2013, when it displayed just 4,905 miles. The GT2’s window sticker, which accompanies the sale, notes that it was finished in Arctic Silver over a Grey Natural leather interior and optioned with an aluminum and carbon fiber shifter and emergency brake lever, along with stainless steel door-entry guards, aluminum-look instrument faces, and stainless steel tailpipes. The GT2 is currently equipped with a Porsche Tequipment roll bar and 19" Champion Motorsport RS97 forged aluminum wheels.
The Porsche benefited from service work and a multi-point inspection at Napleton Westmont Porsche of Westmont, Illinois, in 2013 and 2014 and has shared the company of other significant Porsches in the consignor’s extensive collection. It is accompanied by its owner’s manuals, tools, and records, and remains in stunning original condition. Turbocharging has played an integral role in Porsche’s racing history, and this GT2 offers its next owner the opportunity to experience that outstanding pedigree on the road, in this particularly well-cared-for and extremely low-mileage example.
