The "Leichtbau Collection"
We are very delighted to offer this small but highly exclusive collection of the best Porsche 993 models - the „Leichtbau Collection“. The collection was brought together by a German collector and Porsche enthusiast to honor the pinnacle of modern Porsche air cooled models. Each of the four cars stands for the best of the best, either road or track, normal aspirated of turbo powered! This is the first time that this collection becomes public and it for sale!

Model history:
The Porsche 911 / 993 GT2 R had two class wins at Le Mans and had very much success in the hands of privateer racing teams in Europe and America in the mid-‘90s.
The GT2 was the weapon of choice in the GT2 class, but was also very successful in championships around the world, like the BPR Championship in Europe and the IMSA Sports Car Championship.

The 993 GT2 R is based on the street legal 993 GT2, a customers race version. Due to the GT2 regulations it officially produced 450 hp. The differences from the street legal car were a race-spec suspension, the cage, racing harness and seat as well as an upgraded aero package including a massive, fully adjustable rear wing. The R-version also featured different KKK turbos, larger intercoolers, high-lift camshafts and a bespoke ultra light exhaust system.
For the 1998 season, Porsche offered an improved version to keep the pace with the very quick new Dodge Vipers GTS-R. A new twin-spark ignition and revised KKK turbos increased the power to 485 hp. Also new wider wheels, a revised aero package and refined anti-roll bars were used. In 1998 o total of 13 cars were built.
