Description

This fantastic car is the result of an owners dream to create his ultimate Porsche. An enthusiastic owner of many Porsches over the years, he wanted to combine the wonderful looks, character and purity of the legendary 1973 RS with the usability, convenience and robustness of the later 930 series. This car is by some margin the most convincing Evocation I have come across. The great quality and detail of the car and fantastic driving experience certainly justify the six-figure expenditure on the project.

The project began with a search for good 1980’s 911 Carrera 3.2 fitted with the rare air conditioning option. A suitable UK RHD example was eventually found, original and in good order with a full history from new. This was subsequently delivered to the highly regarded Jazz Porsche who was entrusted with the project, the owner having trusted them for many years with the care and maintenance of his Porsches. A substantial history file documents the extensive work completed. The car was completely stripped and rebuilt with correct new parts including body panels supplied by Porsche, to ensure that the car was as close to an authentic 1973 RS as possible. Consequently, great detail abounds, notice the ‘73 authentic stainless window surrounds, sill plates, correct front spoiler and ducktail, original bumpers - this continues inside with salt/pepper carpets, original switches and so on.

The originator of this project retained this car in his collection and enjoyed it enthusiastically over two summers before selling it to us in 2013, as funds were needed for another project.

I very quickly sold the car to a devoted owner who has enjoyed and loved the Porsche until now. He has covered some 8,000 miles in the last six years and has maintained the car fastidiously using the highly regarded Porsche specialists, Autofarm, for all work. He is only parting with the car now as semi-retirement means he will be spending too much time abroad to fully enjoy the car and he would rather pass it on to another enthusiast than see it languish in storage.
Once on the road it soon becomes clear that this special Porsche is very well sorted indeed, it really does sound and perform better than the original and is certainly quicker with in excess of 250bhp from the hand-built 3.2 litre unit. The air conditioning, electric sunroof and discreet modern sound system are most welcome in daily use, as are the very expensive custom built Recaro seats, whilst fitting into this traditional environment they are fully electric, heated and cooled with adjustable lumbar support. Indeed, they were over £3,000 alone!

All in all a great achievement, this car does exactly what it set out to do, combining the legendary aura and raw ability of the 2.7RS with the usability, comfort and convenience of an 80’s 911. In excellent condition throughout with factory standards of fit and finish this stunning car is finished in the correct 1973 shade of aubergine with black leather interior. I particularly like the early original Carrera RS ducktail spoiler badge! It comes complete with original history from new, all books, tools and very extensive file documenting the whole project. Available for far less than the project cost!
