Description

GENERAL

The first topless 911 was introduced as a turbocharged, four-wheel-drive prototype at the 1981 Frankfurt Auto Show.
One year later, after Porsche’s engineers decided to drop the four-wheel-drive design, they introduced their production version to the world.
Thanks to the work done to create the Targa, only limited chassis reinforcement was required to develop the very first 911 Cabriolet.
In the past, many Targa models were turned into convertibles, but this fine example left the factory as a fully-fledged convertible.
The previous owner, a beginning classic car enthusiast, bought this car to work on its cosmetics.
Despite his good intentions, he couldn’t finish the job due to a lack of time.
So he decided to pass this very enjoyable 911 Cabriolet on to another car lover.

EXTERIOR

The paint work has been renewed in the past, but but it is not the best paint job in the world.
The car can be perfectly used as is, but don’t expect perfect paintwork.
All mounted parts of the car are in good condition, but the avid classic car lover would certainly give them some extra attention.

INTERIOR

The interior looks fairly worn. A perfectionist would consider renewing certain trimmings, even though this is not strictly necessary.
Many aficionados today like a car that looks like it has some history to it.

ENGINE

The 3.2-litre 6-cylinder engine jumps to live easily, runs softly and doesn’t make any strange sounds.
The car hasn’t been driven for a while but there’s nothing that could indicate any problems at first sight.
The 915 gearbox introduced in the 911 SC and subsequent models was derived from the 908 race car and is known for its excellent durability.
However, just to be sure, we would recommend a check-up. Unfortunately, we don’t have a maintenance record.
A full check-up is highly recommended since the car has not been driven for a while.

BODY

The body and chassis look fine. We did not notice any signs of damage or repairs.
