Description
We are pleased to offer for sale this superb example of a Porsche 911 Targa 2.7 MFI.
This rare vehicle was one of 20 cars ordered by the Gendarmerie / Rijkswacht in 1976, fitted with the legendary 911 Carrera 2.7 RS engine producing 210 hp and a narrow body. This configuration is unique to the Belgian intervention vehicles. The Belgian State could very well have ordered Carrera RS models directly, but did not wish for anyone to know the true performance potential of these cars.
It is also the last Sondermodell (special model) produced within the 2.7 RS family.
At the time, it was the fastest police vehicle in the world.
The vehicle is finished in Grand Prix White (908), complemented by its iconic fluorescent red / orange stripe, with a black leather interior.
We have a complete historical Gendarmerie file including the technical specifications for the “fast cars”, the specifications and requirements, the order letter, the purchase agreement, the letter from D’Ieteren regarding the delivery of the vehicles, as well as a diploma from the Royal Gendarmerie School.
This vehicle was registered on 12/05/1976 and delivered to the Gendarmerie on 14/05/1976, where it remained in service until April 1981.
It was subsequently sold to a resident of Lasne, in Belgium, on 23/04/1981 by the 3rd Office of the State Revenue Service. We have the original invoice for this sale, as well as its registration tax declaration.
The owner then sent the vehicle to D’Ieteren Mail in Brussels, where a replacement with a brand-new engine of the same type (911/83), a restoration of the electrical wiring, and various other minor works were carried out, for an amount twice the vehicle’s purchase price from the State.
The vehicle was subsequently sold in 2015 to a Belgian collector following the death of its owner. He undertook a complete restoration of the vehicle between 2015 and 2019, to Porsche Classic quality standards, while keeping it in civilian configuration.
The vehicle was subsequently sold to a French collector in 2023.
The car has therefore had only three private owners over 45 years during its civilian life.
We subsequently began a restoration in order to return the vehicle to its original configuration and restore all of its equipment, including:
• Bosch rotating blue beacon
• Twin-tone sirens
• STOP sign
• Mble radio + antenna
• Dashboard instrumentation
• Signallicht-76 warning triangle
• Fluorescent red / orange stripe
• Yellow front fog lights
The vehicule is sold with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming that the car was delivered as a “Police Version”.
Belgian law permits these ex-police cars to be driven in their full police livery and configuration
The vehicle is available for viewing by appointment only.
