In 1973, Porsche produced the now legendary 2.7 Carrera RS. Following this in 1974 Porsche released the G-Series 911 producing a Carrera version. For 2 years only (1974 and 75) this had the identical 2.7 litre (210 bhp) Carrera RS engine (type 911/83) and type 915 gearbox as the 1973 Carrera RS. Apart from the obvious cosmetic changes these 1974 Carreras are mechanically identical to the 73 Carrera RS with exactly the same performance figures. 0-62 mph was just 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph. The car also weighed the same 1075 kg and was fitted with Aluminium rear swinging arms rather than steel as on the 73 car.
