Produced from 1997-2004, the all-new water-cooled rear wheel drive, manual 6-speed platform offered the perfect balance of performance and drivability, delivered in a stunning final design. In 2000, Porsche introduced the 996 Turbo which utilized an all-wheel drive system and the powerful 3.6 liter twin-turbocharged intercooled flat six engine derived from the 1998 Le Mans winning 911 GT1 race car. Output was remarkable at 414hp, delivering 0-60 times of 4.2 seconds, achieved with confidence via VarioCam Plus with further handling prowess enhanced by the addition of stability management. The newly refined Pinky Lai body design was beautifully executed, retaining the visually important brand signature of the 911 including the unique silhouette, distinctive greenhouse, and wide stance, particularly on the Turbo model. Considered critically important to the history of the 911 lineage, 6-speed manual transmission 996 Turbos are quickly becoming sought after by enthusiasts who seek pure, low mile, properly maintained examples of these important performance cars.
