Launched in 2000, the 996 Turbo offered genuine supercar performance in a compact and practical package. Arriving with four-wheel drive as standard, a water-cooled engine, a smooth new bodyshell, and a radically updated cabin, the new 996 Turbo was a thoroughly sophisticated, all-weather, competent supercar and although it went out of production in 2005, in real terms, it's still as quick as anything on the road. The 2002 model, sometimes known as the Mk.2 or Facelift, also saw body revisions which increased stiffness, improving handling and crash safety.Mid-range punch is the 996 Turbo's party trick and while 420bhp might not be a headline power figure today, it still feels seriously rapid with instant thrust that ensures you are pressed against the back of the seat and a flow of power that feels almost linear. The chassis and brakes are a perfect match for the engine's performance, whilst the ride is taut but retains enough suppleness for long journeys to remain comfortable. With four-wheel drive and the engine slung out the back, both grip and traction are incredibly strong promoting a feeling of confidence that can border on invincibility!Delivered new by Stratstone of Wilmslow, this very well-specified Facelift manual Turbo in Basalt Black has the all-important X50 pack that included larger turbochargers, a revised ECU, and an uprated exhaust, the combined effect of which was to raise output to 450 horsepower. This C16 UK-model was factory ordered with a specification that included, Arctic Silver interior furniture, Red seatbelts, and embossed electric heated seats. The car is supplied with its original book packs, tools, and a substantial history folder including a maintenance record that is complete and documented.Service intervals are shown as follows;Miles      3,463, Stratstone of Wilmslow                6,175, Porsche Centre West London                8,769, Porsche Centre West London                8,768, Porsche Centre West London                12,291 Porsche Centre West London                18,095 Porsche Centre West London                24,277 Porsche Centre West London                28,713 Porsche Centre West London                31,923 Fernssport Silverstone                37,930 Fernsport Silverstone                46,309 Fernsport Silverstone                49,301 Fernsport Silverstone                52,512 Fernsport Silverstone                54,197 Paul Stephens The current indicated mileage is 55,358.As you can see, this example has clearly been well maintained by either Porsche main agents or known marque specialists.X-Pack cars are fairly rare and this is a great opportunity to own a car revered for its excellent build quality and supercar performance, in arguably the 'most desireable' colour combination of 'triple black', with a great maintenance record, and in such wonderful condition.
