Description
"The Porsche 996 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent noise regulations, environmental concerns, a higher expectation for refinement and a high-performance, four-valve per cylinder engine made the switch necessary. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a re-designed interior.
First registered in February 1998, this 3.4 litre Carrera C2 has covered a mere 35,813 miles from new and comes with a full service history, its last major service was only 613 miles ago at 35,200 miles when it had a new radiators, an air-conditioning radiator, new front discs and pads plus a clutch replacement. Supplied new in Guards Red with grey leather interior and with factory fitted options including an Aerokit body and six-speed gearbox. Stored in heated, de-humidified storage for the past few years, the car has just been recommissioned and has just had a new battery installed along with an oil and filter service and a new MoT test certificate valid until May 2024. Indeed, the vendor reports the car to run and drive very well with its 296bhp, 3.4 litre, flat six engine howling as any Porsche flat six engine should.
Supplied with a V5C registration document, original handbooks and two sets of keys. Finding one of these first year of production water cooled Carrera's with such low mileage is nigh on impossible and this car represents an opportunity not to be missed.Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description, the Aerokit may not have been factory fitted. There is no code referring to it as an option on the bonnet sticker. However, the stamp on the bottom of the boot lid suggests it was dealer fitted.
