Description

The 993 Turbo was introduced in 1996 featuring full time four wheel drive for the first time on a production 911 Turbo. The 3.6-litre engine was fitted with a pair of KKK K16 turbochargers and Bosch M5.2 engine management. Output was 408bhp at 5750rpm. Performance was explosive with a top speed of 184mph and 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds. Like all turbocharged 911's, this latest variant received heavily flared wheel arches and a static rear spoiler.

Unique to these cars, the body-coloured rear wings were fixed in place and housed the turbocharger intercoolers. For the 1997 model year, Porsche produced the most exclusive road-going 993 of all and what became the last air-cooled 911 Turbo - the Turbo S. Based on the standard Turbo, the Turbo S was enhanced with a number of special features Including: the Aerokit II front and rear spoilers, Carbon Fibre interior features, brake cooling ducts alongside the front indicators, uprated yellow coloured 6 pot callipers an additional oil cooler, stiffer suspension that made the car sit 15mm lower and engine cooling scoops carved out from the rear wings. The wheels were uniquely coloured on the Turbo S. Mechanically, the 3.6-litre twin-turbo flat-six was pumped up to 450bhp by incorporating larger K-24 turbos and a different exhaust making it the firm's most powerful production engine yet. Just 345 examples were manufactured, each one hand-finished at Porsche Exclusive prior to delivery.

This example was supplied new by Manhattan Motorcars of New York City to Mr Taig Stewart of Springville, Utah via Classic Automobiles Inc on 25th June 1997 with 37 miles. Optioned in Guards Red over a black leather interior, this C02 Turbo S is one of just 176 cars to reach US shores. Mr Stewart would keep the car for 8 years but covering just 7,023 miles in his ownership. The car was serviced four times in his care.

In April 2005, the car was sold via dealership RPM Autos to its second and most recent owner in the UK. The car was specifically selected as an exemplary low mileage example and was imported to the UK to join a prominent Porsche collection.

DK Engineering imported the car on behalf of the owner as part of our collection management program and converted for use on UK roads. Since 2005, the car has remained within the collection. The car was used sparingly for the first few years, visiting Porsche for services in ’06, ‘07, ’08, ’09 and 2011. Over the course of these years, the car covered just 123 miles with MOTs to corroborate. In 2011, the car was SORN and put into long term storage with the owner’s collection of close to 100 cars.

In 2016, the Turbo S was treated to major service and overhaul including the replacement of both turbochargers by Porsche Centre Reading totalling £12,250. After this, the car was placed back into storage and since covered just 50 miles.

Most recently serviced by Porsche Centre Hatfield in January 2021, this 993 Turbo S presents as one would expect for a car of the mileage, carefully used and stored for much of its life - all four tyres will be replaced as part of the sale. A rare opportunity to acquire a very low mileage 993 Turbo S, available to view by appointment at our showrooms outside London immediately.
