The 993 model range is considered by many as the ultimate 911 to own and to collect. Understood as the pinnacle of aircooled technology and as the most sought for heritage of the original 911 from 1964. Introduced in January 1994, it carried only 20% of shared parts with its predecessor, the 964 model range. It was also the first 911 to feature a 6 speed gearbox, and was overall a car with much improved driving experience due to better handling and due to new all-alloy multi link suspension. A series of improvements were introduced over the years of production, with most notably the introduction of an automatic Tiptronic S gearbox, allowing to shift gears also on the steering wheel, and, in 1996, a variable engine induction system called VarioRam, allowing a better torque availability at low and mid-range engine speeds. This new system allowed also an increase of power from 272 to 286 horsepower. For the end of the production (1996 and 1997) the 993 coupe was also manufactured with the widened turbo body, and was sold as the Carrera S and Carrera 4S versions. The cars had lowered suspension, wider tires, all in all improved handling at higher speeds, but most importantly the widened rear of the coupe was critically acclaimed. The Carrera S, differently from its 4-wheel-drive counterpart received a specific engine grille, split in two vertically, a distinctive design characteristic reserved only for this version. Its limited production makes it very attractive for car collectors – for a total production of 45 525 coupes (all versions sumed up together) in the 993 range only 3 714 were Carrera S.

The 993 Carrera S offered up for auction is a fantastic condition, low-mileage example that can be enjoyed both as a driver as well as a cool addition to a Porsche collection. This car left the factory in Germany for the Japanese market and was ordered in a very unusual but classic at the same time color combination of white firnweiss (paint code 3AU) with all black interior. As many cars from the Nippon market it is equipped with a Tiptronic S gearbox. It was first registered in March 1997 to be sold to Warsaw, Poland in Summer 2015, resulting in its first and only registration in November 2015, totalling 61 000 kilometres only. Since then the car remained in stationary display in a private car collection build around german marques, and models from the years 1990s and 2000s. Before being put up for auction this 993 received a full 50-point check inspection to answer most questions potential bidders could have.
The car comes with a complete documentation since new, with its users manuals and its japanese service book. It is stamped and filled in, with services performed at: 8400, 12800, 22000, 27900, 30200, 46000, 57900, 59200 and 60913 kilometers. Several other bills of service are present, with an oil service done just before the sale, in May 2015 at 61068 kilometers. The car comes with its keys, and a remote for the alarm opening/closing doors. The alarm is functional.
Regarding the bodywork condition, this 993 is an unmolested vehicle in great condition and great presence. The whole body, bumpers included is flawless, the rubber joints are in perfect condition. Already in Japan a special long-term wax was applied on the body, which allowed fantastic paint protection.
The car is accident-free but was repainted still in Japan, due to a passenger's side scratch on all body panels. Work was carried out very professionnally resulting in very good paint measurements: the roof as well as the engine hatch are in first paint. Driver's side of the car is at 200, the drivers door is at 270 microns. For the right side of the car the front wing is between 340-400, the door is between 380-440, and the rear wing between 380-550 microns. Inside the gaps the car retains its original paint as well as for the trunk space in the front where all panels are still original and are factory-sealed except one minor seal on the driver's side (although panels are untouched). The whole body is in excellent condition and rust free except for a small 1 euro-cent size bubble on the bottom of the front windshield – a common occurrence for the 993 model. Overall the body is of a car that was very well maintained over its life.
The interior is flawless except for 1mm scratch on drivers seat exterior stitching. Leather presents well, plastics look anew, interior panel assembly looks like in a car that would have just left the factory. All electrics work perfectly.
Mechanics, drivetrain: this car is due to a major service. However despite being driven only 400 kilometres since 2015 and remaining as a stationary collection piece, its engine starts flawlessly and is in great condition, same thing goes for the tiptronic gearbox. Due to the fact it was perfectly maintained in Japan, the mechanics are very healthy and the car still drives fantastic. Several small oil leaks are present on the lower-engine which is a common occurrence for aircooled 911s. The right side heater flap box next to the exhaust is damaged and needs replacement, the one on the left side is in perfect condition. In terms of braking, wheels and suspension, front shocks need replacement (the right front one is leaking), wheels are in excellent condition, but tires would need to be replaced because of their age and lack of use. Front brakes might need a closer look and brake pads replaced, otherwise the braking system performs great, the car brakes straight and the system works effectively. The underbody of the car is in absolute perfect condition, looks anew with no rust present no panels bent.

This car is the perfect combination of rarity and ease of use with its tiptronic gearbox for someone looking for an unmolested, accident-free 993, with clean history files, well maintained over the years of use, and which is also very fun to drive. All of this for a very reasonable price especially compared to narrow-body sub-100k kilometers cars currently on the market.
