Description

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight

Engine 2,687 cc, air-cooled horizontally flat six
Color Dalmatian Blue with Black Lettering
Interior Black with Black Carpet

History:
M 471, also known as the Lightweight model, shaved 220lbs from its Touring counterpart, which made the car more responsive and powerful. This was achieved by fitting lightweight body panels, lightweight glass, fiberglass bumpers, a plastic gas tank, and thin felt carpeting. Missing were the arm rests, rear seats, passenger sun visor, clock, and radio. Leather straps serve as door pulls. This version was designed for maximum performance. The result is effectively a race car for the street. Of the 1,580 Carrera RS 2.7s produced, only 200 had the Lightweight trim, and they are regarded by many as the ultimate 911. Only 55 of the 1,580 Carrera RS 2.7s were finished in Dalmatian Blue.

Condition:
A complete restoration was concluded in 2010 by a German marque specialist for a then US based owner. Restoration files includes receipts and photographs. About 3,500 miles use since restoration. A stunning example in Dalmatian Blue.

Of Note:
The Konradsheim Carrera RS book shows a Porsche Factory delivery in Stuttgart, Germany in April of 1973. Car equipped with a passenger sun visor, radio and antenna. There is also a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
