Description
We’re delighted to welcome this rather tasteful 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (964) to Duke ofLondon, formally owned by the one of the most famous portrait photographers to have ever lived. Need we say more.
Commonly referred to as the Type 964, this generation of 911 still looked the part when it arrived in 1989 but featured technology to make it safer without compromising on the 911’s well-established ability to excite and engage. Underneath the classic 911 silhouette stood a sturdy new structure designed to meet ever-changing technical and safety requirements as well as incorporating a few lessons learnt from the legendary 959.
More aerodynamic than previous generations of 911, the 964 sported integrated bumpers and – drum roll, please – a rear spoiler that popped up automatically at 50mph. The definitive party trick of sports cars at the time. Initially launched in four-wheel-drive Carrera 4 form, the rear-wheel drive Carrera 2 followed a year later. Despite its short life, the 964 range included a coupé, targa, the formidable Turbo model and, perhaps the prettiest of them all, the cabriolet.
This exceptional Carrera 2 Cabriolet Tiptronic is finished in the rare shade of Forest Green metallic and comes with an exhaustive full Porsche service history dating back to delivery, despite its 35980 milage. No expense has been spared over the course of this 964’s life and its exemplary service history is testament to that.
Recently undergoing a full engine rebuild with Porsche, this three-owner car has been with the same family from new. First owned by the company, it then passed between to our photographer in question before it was registered with his wife. With a few minor bumps and scrapes in line with its age and milage, this 964 is entirely original cosmetically, making this one of the most authentic and tasteful early nineties 964s on the market.
As with all our vehicles, a full digital folder is available on request containing more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
